Exploring Innovation in Appalachia: an Undergraduate Research Symposium

Showcase your undergraduate research and explore pathways to graduate studies at the inaugural Exploring Innovation in Appalachia: an Undergraduate Research Symposium. This fully online event is hosted by the Eberly College of Arts and Sciences at West Virginia University. Applications are now open.

The symposium invites sophomores, juniors and rising seniors conducting research in the fields ofastronomy, biology, chemistry, communication studies, environmental geoscience, geography, geology, history, mathematics, physics or world languages, literatures and linguistics to present research, connect with fellow students across Appalachia and beyond, meet world-class faculty and graduate students, and learn about WVU's research facilities.

Participation in this symposium is free.The application process is competitive and requires students to submit an abstract of the project they wish to present. All online presentations will be evaluated by a panel of local and regional judges. The top three presentations in each research area will receive cash prizes. (Note: Current WVU students are not eligible to apply.)

Applications will remain open through June 11, 2021 or until slots are filled.
