Q&A with Mackenzie

  • What are your favorite things about the department?
    • My favorite thing about the department is the encouragement that everyone gives towards taking time for yourself. While academics and research are obviously the main point, it is still known that taking a break and not overworking yourself is necessary.
  • Why did you want to pursue physics?
    • I wanted to pursue physics because I have always wanted to make a discovery, and this field seemed perfect for that. Plus, I love a challenge!
  • Why did you choose West Virginia University?
    • I chose WVU because of some advice from my high school physics teacher that led me into doing research into the school and the department.
  • How have your professors and/or staff helped you be successful?
    • The professors and staff are very encouraging and want you to be able to succeed. It is very clear that everyone in the department has hope for the next generation.
  • What advice would you give to an incoming student?
    • Incoming students should get out there, make friends, and have fun while also creating a balance with your school. Making friends in your field is very helpful, and not just for study groups, but for the future in your career.
