Scholarship for New Applicants

The West Virginia University Department of Physics and Astronomy offers $1500 scholarships to new students who have been directly admitted to the Eberly College of Arts and Sciences as a new undergraduate physics major.

To be considered for these scholarships,  please submit a one-page resume and a brief essay (250 words or less) explaining your interest in a physics or astronomy career and why you are interested in attending WVU. The current deadline to apply for an Incoming P&A Student Scholarship is March 28, 2025.

About The Scholarship

Eligibility & Information

The Scholarship for New Applicants is available to new undergraduate students who have been directly admitted to the Eberly College of Arts and Sciences as a physics major. Students must complete an application by the deadline for consideration.

The scholarship is awarded in addition to any other scholarship(s) you have received. It is a non-renewable, one-time award. However, the Department offers several undergraduate scholarships that you may apply for during your first year.
