Q&A with Jeremy

  • What are your favorite things about the department?
    • I really like how approachable and friendly the students, staff, and professors are, almost like you're a part of one big family. It's very welcoming and there's always someone to help if you need it.
  • What do you think is the most interesting thing about your research?
    • I think the most interesting thing is that we got to build our MOKE experiment from the ground up. More specifically, though, I think our optical cryostat is pretty cool. Pun intended.
  • Why did you want to pursue physics?
    • I first thought about pursuing engineering, but as I got older, I realized my true passion was with learning and understanding how the universe works fundamentally. I also knew I wanted to do something meaningful that would impact people, and I think physics lets me do that.
  • Why did you choose West Virginia University?
    • I chose WVU for many reasons. I thought that I would receive a high-quality education for the price I would pay, plus I really liked the environment and student culture I saw on campus. The PRT may or may not have been involved in the decision, as well...
  • How have your professors and/or staff helped you be successful?
    • My professors have given invaluable advice and assistance, not only regarding courses and coursework, but also with regard to my future.
  • What advice would you give to an incoming student?
    • Read your textbooks and develop a system for time management that works for you! Also, don't be a stranger!
